The Pilgrim

Footsteps in the dust, footprints of a path, trace of a thought, a dream, a goal to reach. Our life, our pilgrimage on this earth, the splendid game of seeking the distant horizon that hides the light of dawn and sunset, of the God who came and will come.

What is the pilgrim looking for when he is leaving? And what moves his steps, what forces support him?

Certainly the desire to discover, as well as the curiosity that the path itself feeds. And then that tension that rises and vibrates like a tense rope, typical of every journey where you know you know the unknown.

The Pilgrim

Alexander the Great lived the anguish and anxiety of wanting to know, to take more and more, of wanting to conquer spaces.

And what about Ulysses, always ready to start again for other journeys. But the pilgrimage is another thing.

The pilgrimage is not to seek in what is outside of us. The pilgrimage starts from our inner, from our heart. And already in antiquity it was like this: The Pilgrim sought himself, and God in himself, reexperiencing the places where God was closer to man and perhaps manifested himself.

The Pilgrim

The pilgrim knows that not everything he encounters is important for his research. Because what is important is finding oneself by finding God again. And what you need to do is find and recognize along the way.

The pilgrim listens to his heart with the music of the passages that cross the world to meet God.

The pilgrim knows the goal. He does not know what he will meet by the way, he does not know the times nor what can happen. He may have an idea of physical and inner exertion, but he comforts himself by knowing that others have preceded him.

And most of all he knows that his is an experience of love. And entrusts himself for it to Providence and in an inflexible manner.

The pilgrim is experiencing the sacred. And everything, the places, the times, the difficulties are in this thickness, including errors, false steps, unnecessary choices.

The pilgrim knows he will come to his destination.

The Pilgrim

Pilgrimage is a way of seeing and living the world and it is inside man. And the Pilgrim knows that it is an experience that cannot be told or lived by tales: we must live it. And becomes a living witness.

The pilgrimage is a prayer that makes life a prayer. That is why it is said that the Pilgrim is Pilgrim forever. And it is with hope and not with resignation, because it does not chase an impossible dream but a very precise goal.

The self in the places for the Beyond. And who is not yet party will start soon. He will make a testament, he will certainly greet his loved ones and depart for one of these streets. Like the thousands of pilgrims from the Via Francigena.

In winter also with the snow, in the pouring rain or in summer with the sun at peak and the heat of the hot.

Pilgrims also unwittingly unite the places they visit and the people, persons and peoples who inhabit them.

Also for this reason, Hosteria number 1000 in Fidenza wanted to dedicate a real Pilgrim’s menu to the pilgrims of the Via Francigena.

As a tribute, thankfulness and solidarity with what Hosteria number 1000 can offer. Good Parmigiana cuisine and Emilia-Romagna hospitality.
